Capital Theatres, Scotland's largest theatre charity, presents world-class shows to entertain and inspire audiences of all ages and stages more than 700 performances each year in Edinburgh.
It owns the Festival Theatre, which has 1,915 seats, the King’s Theatre, with 1,300 seats, and the 155-seater Studio. The broad and inclusive programme features drama, opera, dance, musical theatre, live music, comedy and pantomime. It contains a mix of innovative, experimental productions alongside mainstream, well-loved shows.
Capital Theatres, whose vision is to inspire a life-long love of theatre, employs 230 staff, has an average turnover of £13m and sells more than 400,000 tickets annually.
Based in the world's leading festival city, the charity's stages are the heart of the Edinburgh Festivals, which provide a focus for pioneering new voices and art forms and offer a celebration of artistic collaboration that continues throughout the year.
The theatres support access to the arts for everyone and have an extensive learning and participation programme of talks, workshops and events to introduce and develop engagement and interest in the heritage of the buildings and all areas of live performance.
In Britain, they at the forefront in delivering “relaxed” performances, which are for anyone who would benefit from a less formal performance environment, such those with autism spectrum disorder, sensory and communication disorders, or a learning disability. The theatres also deliver an award-winning dementia-friendly programme, making the charity's venues and productions suitable for people living with dementia.
I feel proud to work for this organisation
Capital Theatres says it aims to be a good employer, providing career development and training for staff, caring about its audiences and building long-term relationships with them, forging close and mutually beneficial relationships with stakeholders and business partners and by contributing to and being part of the community it serves.

An employee forum and all-staff meetings build communication and reinforce messages. Staff get together to have fun, too. During pantomime season at the King's Theatre, one staff member writes a pantette, a spoof panto, which staff perform in the auditorium after one of the shows.
This organisation has a strong social conscience
Capital Theatres gives back to the community through its many engagement projects, such as its dementia-friendly programme. Last year, though, staff, their friends and family joined panto star Jordan Young to run in the Edinburgh marathon and raise cash to save the King's Theatre, which needs an expensive refurbishment.
