Connect Childcares’ mantra of hiring people to add to the organisation’s culture, rather than fit into it, is what makes it a great place to work.

The nursery management software provider, established in 2004, proudly boasts an energetic team with a huge appetite for success. This surely is not least in part down to the fact that employees are in control of their own career progression and are encouraged to take ownership of their development so that they grow both as individuals, as well as a business.

Values are important at Connect Childcare too, and, with the whole team having been part of creating those values, they use them to drive everything they do and to help them to meet their goals.

As an organisation whose mission is to improve the lives of children across the globe through its flagship software product, Connect Childcare, the team is focused on developing products that save nurseries time and money. They pride themselves on being an honest, trusted, and creative team all striving to be the best they can be.

The company has a dedicated people agenda, which in the coming year will focus on diversity and inclusion (D&I). This will include company-wide training on D&I, as well as reviewing processes to attract more candidates from underrepresented groups.

Featured Workplace Factors

Giving Something Back

During an employee engagement day, staff had the opportunity to join ‘Spin the Wheel’ competitions, which saw winners given the opportunity to donate to their chosen charities. Part of the company’s current HR strategy is a focus on supporting charities which align with its values and support the Early Years Sector.

Personal Growth

Employee-led development is encouraged at all levels, with opportunities for staff to get involved with external partners, such as colleges and universities, to deliver talks as part of their own self growth. Staff can undertake a range of training courses externally, as well as receiving support from a dedicated internal trainer.

My Company

An internal survey is sent to all staff to nominate one of their peers who they believe has gone above and beyond in demonstrating the company’s values in their work. The winning ‘Connector’ of the Quarter (as employees are fondly known) is congratulated and presented with a gift during a stand-up.

Quote from the top...

"We are very much a people focussed business at Connect Childcare and have invested heavily in ensuring that the team is fully aligned to the strategic aims and shared values of the organisation. The detail that our recent B-Survey has gone into with regards to perceived strengths and weaknesses has been invaluable as we look to identify areas that we can improve upon and we're absolutely delighted to have achieved an 'Outstanding' accreditation with 83% participation from the team. We see the accreditation as a real differentiate in what is an increasingly competitive recruitment landscape, however, the true value lies in the insights that the survey has surfaced. We've done very well to get this far but we still have some way to go as we  strive to continuously improve our offering to staff and be the best possible  employer we can."

Chris Reid, CEO - Connect Childcare
