Devon Air Ambulance provides emergency pre-hospital medical services, training, research and education for Devon and the surrounding area.
The organisation began in 1992 with a very small team of fewer than 10 staff, and over the past three decades has grown to 156 employees, who each play a valuable part in delivering and supporting the life-saving service.
As well as caring for the people of Devon and the surrounding area, the organisation also takes gret pride in providing for the wellbeing of its employees. It has a pastoral care team and also a Wellbeing Ambassador team who are trained Mental Health First Aiders. It uses TRIM practice in the operational departments and also has a cross department team who form the Wellbeing Working Group to help build the strategy for health and wellbeing.
Devon Air Ambulance offers its employees a wide range of support from counselling, employee assistance programme, and surf therapy. The organisation recently participated in Mental Health Awareness Week and provided a number of different sessions to staff on different topic areas including managing anxiety, menopause awareness, and physical wellbeing (yoga).
Furthermore, the organisation introduced a cost of living payment which was pro-rated for all staff. This was a permanent uplift on salary. It is also committed to annual pay rises to support its staff. It has run sessions on tools and support mechanisms to support its staff financially. Devon Air Ambulance also invited an external expert to run a cost of living webinar for all staff.
