Over the last year energy technology business, ENSEK, has expanded into the Netherlands, Belgium and Australia and set up a digital comparison and switching site for small business owners.
The company established in 2010 provides energy suppliers with technology, outsourcing and advisory services to improve their business performance and competitiveness. ENSEK's Software as a Service platform now powers the world's leading energy suppliers as well as established independent operations and new market entrants, providing solutions including market messaging, billing, customer management and managed services.
The fast-growing Nottingham-based enterprise, which has grown its workforce from 50 to 200 in the last three years alone, currently manages more than £2bn of energy supplier revenue. Due to business growth employees are developing organically by beginning to work internationally and inheriting larger clients which has also led to secondments across departments and continents and several internal promotions.
The firm has also continued to support traineeships, apprenticeships and graduate placements as a means of developing employees who are new to the workforce. Rewards include recognition prizes, peer-nominated awards, a generous healthcare and benefits package and regular treats and socials.
To create a sense of belonging and togetherness among new and long-serving employees during the pandemic ENSEK introduced a company-wide virtual Happy Hour and a bi-monthly pub quiz and also sent a gift package to staff including a personal thankyou message. ENSEK has also introduced Culture Champions to nurture peer to peer support and plans to offer all staff flexible hours and home working post pandemic.
I believe I can make a valuable contribution to the success of this organisation
The annual peer recognition scheme includes awards a range of categories including One to Watch - someone new who has made a big impact quickly, Hidden Gem - someone who contributes in an understated way and The Rock – their go-to person for a good rant or shoulder to cry on.
I am happy with the balance between my work and home life
As well as offering support and information mental health first aiders have introduced wellbeing initiatives, including a Happiness Teams group where employees can share things that make them smile and a collaborative playlist where people can add their happy songs, which are played before company meetings and events.
My organisation encourages charitable activities
ENSEK usually sponsors a group to run the Robin Hood Half Marathon but as that was cancelled it raised money for employee-chosen charity, Mind, with a sponsored running challenge that staff could do individually. It also encouraged the team to use their skills to support local charity and community initiatives.
