The vision for Glean has been 14 years in the making. Formerly Sonocent, Glean helps learners to manage information effectively using note taking skills. In the digital age, learners access vast amounts of information, but only a small proportion of learners are equipped to leverage its potential.

Glean seeks to break down barriers within education by embedding learning processes in innovative, note taking technology. Believing that education is the bedrock of civilisation, the organisation's generous learning and development budget encourages employees continuous growth through 1:1 coaching, group SDI training sessions and group coaching for managers.

Glean also support its colleagues by funding those undertaking professional qualifications, as well as showing its support of conference and event attendance.

The company fosters a culture where every voice is welcomed, heard and respected It utilises Slack to centralise all internal communications, encouraging open discussions on important topics, as well as offering a forum to ask questions.

Several internal support networks, such as Glean Pride, were introduced in 2021, and the organisation has just launched a substantial DE&I project to identify areas for improvement to ensure it is a diverse and inclusive workplace.

All new starters are given the opportunity to meet with every single person within the organisation, as part of their two-week onboarding programme. This programme also includes a checklist with meetings, tasks and important information, along with a 'meet the CEO' session where employees will be given the opportunity to hear the company's mission and values.

Doing its bit for the environment, Glean implemented a cycle-to-work scheme to support employees to use two wheels for their commute instead of four. Sustainable alternatives are used throughout the office, such as eco tissues and kitchen roll, and there's designated paper and mixed material recycling points.
