Founded in 1901 in Preston, Harrison Drury & Co is a legal services provider to the SME community that recognises that its people are at the heart of the business.
The organisation has a steadfast commitment to maintaining a culture that challenges the conventional law firm approach. It has built an exciting, rewarding, and supportive workplace environment and makes a positive impact in its local communities.
Having equal regard for both mental and physical health, the organisation recently provided onsite health assessments for all its employees which provided them with information regarding their height, weight, BMI, hydration levels, blood pressure and cholesterol. This enabled the assessor to provide tailored tips and lifestyle changes that would be of benefit to the employees.
The organisation has invested in training a team of Mental First Aiders for the wellbeing of its people. It has also launched a work-life balance self-assessment tool to enable its people to better understand where stress originates and how to access support as required.
Following feedback, the organisation is holding an interactive menopause workshop to raise awareness and challenge stigma. It is also supporting its people to attend the Family Wellbeing Festival this year.
Harrison Drury & Co supported Wear it Green Day in its offices and exchanged photos whilst raising money for Mental Health Foundation during mental health awareness week. The organisation has also set up a book swap station in its coffee bar encouraging its employee to visit and exchange books.
This organisation is run on strong values / principles
Much work has been undertaken at a senior level to review, refresh and rewrite the organisation’s values in line with the new mission and vision of the company. Employees were invited to contribute to this and their feedback was taken into account to help shape the new vision.
The experience I gain from this job is valuable for my future
PDP's are conducted on an annual basis but revisited each quarter to review progress and ensure employees can achieve their aspirations. The organisation provides unlimited access to a rich and ever-growing knowledge bank of seminars and webinars. It advocates both business and legal apprenticeships, believing that apprenticeships enable a career in law regardless of background.
I feel that my manager talks openly and honestly with me
The organisation engages in a corporate mental coaching service run externally which all managers are enrolled on. The training programme focuses on a variety of subject areas including personal effectiveness training, results centred leadership, and sessions on effective team management. The firm also has bespoke in-house Leadership and Management Development Programme.
