Home Instead entered the home care market 24 years ago with one office in Chester and a new model of elderly care: a non-medical, companionship-based, in-house service that looks after the emotional and physical needs of the elderly in their own homes. It allows the client and their family to remain firmly in charge of what is best for them, with the reassurance of trained professional support to hand.

Bespoke caring services delivered to 17,000 clients by 12,000 carers cover housekeeping; personal care; dementia care including Alzheimer's; and live-in care. Home Instead is the UK's No 1 provider in its field, with a franchise of 224 offices nationwide, and was shortlisted in seven categories at the Home Care Awards 2021. Indeed, a recent survey found that 97% of Home Instead clients would recommend the company, with 98% of them saying their carers have kept them safe and well during the Covid-19 crisis.

Staff who deliver quality-of-life home care need looking after in turn, and the business has not let them down. It campaigned nationally to ensure NHS staff and carers got dedicated time for food shopping in the supermarkets, and has ensured that all its PPE (personal protection equipment) supplies come from ethical sources. For those who have to go to the office, cleaning now takes place twice daily.

Two wellbeing surveys have resulted in new post-lockdown policies being put in place to give employees more flexibility for home-working in future.

Quote from the top...
“I am really proud that we have been awarded a ‘world class’ 3-star rating. As a mission-led business we all share a common purpose and this feeds into our culture and everything we do as a team. The last year has been challenging for everyone in the team. To achieve world class levels of engagement, this year more than ever, bears testament to our team spirit and the support we give each other. It’s fair to say that the pandemic has drawn the best out of us. Well done everyone.”

Martin Jones, Chief Executive Officer - Home Instead
