LSI Architects is an architectural practice with around 60 people, including Architects, Architectural Technologists and support staff, based in London and Norwich. The company seeks to create sustainable, innovative, valuable, and positive architecture that improves lives, builds communities and enhances society, or as the organisation puts it, Life Touching Design.
Employees at LSI Architects are happy, highly trained, and motivated to deliver the quality design and committed service they believe clients should expect. LSI Architects looks after its staff, not just because of its legal obligations, but because it sees them as its greatest investment. The organisation sees it as its responsibility to provide employees with the training and development they need to improve and inspire leadership throughout the Practice.
LSI Architects have chosen to prioritise mental health and employee wellbeing. Working alongside Mind and Cake People Development, the organisation believes in providing employees with the training and development needed to improve and inspire emotional intelligence, coaching, and leadership skills.
In the last 12 months, the organisation has developed and implemented a Menopause Policy into its Employee Handbook, which details the effects menopause can have on individuals and what support tools are available. It also outlines the responsibilities line managers have when it comes to the overall wellbeing of their team.
Furthermore, recognising how the cost-of-living crisis has impacted general wellbeing, all employees received a minimum pay increase of 11%.
My team is fun to work with
LSI Architects regularly fund staff socials, which provide employees with the opportunity to connect outside of the traditional workplace setting. These have included electric shuffleboard and snow tubing, and most recently a drinks reception which saw employees from both office locations come together to celebrate the end of another financial year.
I have confidence in the leadership skills of the senior management team
Directors host every other Monday Morning Meeting where they share project wins and progress updates on how the business is performing. As well as keeping people updated through the Monday Morning Meetings, the organisation’s internal magazine, The Detail, opens with an intro written by a different Director each issue sharing Practice news and success stories.
This organisation has a strong social conscience
The organisation participates in a TerraCycle scheme, where household waste is collected in the office and then taken to a drop off point. All recycled waste is transferred into points which are donated to a local school’s programme. In October 2022, LSI Architects were certified as a Carbon Neutral Business by Carbon Neutral Britain.
