Formed in April 2007, Melin Homes is a not-for-profit social landlord that provides a wide range of housing solutions and high-quality services to people in housing need. Managing almost 5,000 homes across South East Wales, the organisation aims to help people and communities to thrive.

Melin Homes believes that its staff are truly at the heart of the organisation and the organisation has a huge health and wellbeing culture, demonstrating that it genuinely cares about the people that work there.

The organisation’s ‘Zest’ initiative is embedded into everything that it does, and helps provide its employees with a working environment that encourages people to think about their balance between work and home life, which enables them to look after their mental and physical health. This contributes to a fun, enjoyable, and healthy place to work. It has adopted an agile approach to working, enabling staff to work from wherever is most comfortable and suitable to them.

The organisation has rolled out Melo-Connect 5 training to managers and staff, which aims to increase employees’ confidence to have every day conversations about mental health and wellbeing. The organisation has three different counselling services and offers staff virtual GP appointments, within 24 hours.
