North Wales Housing sent a Valentine's card to each one of its staff – an illustration of its commitment to caring for employees as well as tenants.

NWH provides more than 2,700 homes across north Wales and is building more. The not-for-profit organisation was founded in 1974 and today has about 170 employees.

Many worked from home during the pandemic, with regular briefings from the senior leadership. Post-coronavirus, NWH aims to have an agile working strategy, rather than requiring people to return to the office.

Of course, staff missed mixing with colleagues, so NWH set up a “Kitchen” channel on Microsoft Teams to encourage chats like they would have had at work.

An Around the World in 80 Days challenge also kept the team connected. Staff, friends and family walked, ran and cycled – not only making it back to base in Llandudno Junction with three days to spare but travelling a further 2,150 miles. Other events included a February French Challenge and a March Welsh Challenge.

The NWH team covers Gwynedd, Anglesey, Conwy, Denbighshire and Wrexham. Staff briefings and listening sessions take place every three months.

The organisation has developed expertise in housing people aged over 55. It also offers supported units and services for people with drug and alcohol problems, mental health issues or learning disabilities, and others such as ex-offenders and young people leaving care. The aim is to give them the confidence and know-how to take control of their lives.

The experience I gain from this job is valuable for my future

Wellbeing

67% of staff agreed

I am happy with the balance between my work and home life

NWH has signed up to Time to Change Wales, a pledge to spread the message that mental health is something that can be talked about, and that stigma and discrimination are not welcome. All line managers have undertaken i-act mental health training. Health and wellbeing champions offer help to colleagues.

Giving Something Back

89% of staff agreed

My organisation encourages charitable activities

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
