THE POLICY OF treasuring staff at Pandora began with its first employee, Winnie Enevoldsen, the wife of founder Per. “She had to be treated well,” says Peter Andersen, the president for western Europe, wryly. The jewellery manufacturer and retailer, famed for its charm bracelets, began in Copenhagen in 1982 and operates in more than 100 countries. The 271 Pandora Jewellery UK staff are based at sleek headquarters in Marylebone, London. Of the 200 British stores, nine are owned and operated by the firm — the others are part of its thriving franchise business. Work is considered an important part of life for employees, who score this measure 84% positive, a top-20 result. Simone Esposito, the assistant manager at the Marble Arch shop, loves being at a company on the up. “It's an amazing feeling, that enthusiasm,” he says. “It's different when you work somewhere that's doing so well, growing so fast and you're growing with it.” Emilia Merola started as a sales associate five years ago.
