There's pure logic in the rationale of Pure Recruitment Group: “We get our job satisfaction by making sure others get theirs.” The company finds jobs for taxation specialists and fills banking, finance, legal and treasury positions. It came 11th in the Best Companies to Work For list last year, but the downturn in its sector may be behind its lower ranking this year. Even so, the business is tackling conditions with a fighting spirit and an open approach, with managing directors and founders Chris Nelson and Charles Ferguson discussing the economy with the 50 staff at meetings every other month. Staff are confident in the leadership of senior management (an 88% positive score) and say they listen rather than just tell people what to do (81%). When two jobs were at risk, the London-based firm heard out the individuals putting forward a case to keep their positions. They are still on board and making a difference, like everyone else (86%). Team members care for each other (85%). They also have fun (88%) and share a good buzz (79%). Consultants earn a typical salary of just under £41,500, and say this is fair compared with similar roles elsewhere (74%). The company comes 33rd overall for the Fair Deal it offers (73%) and staff feel deadlines are also realistic (78%). There's some work to do on training and development, as Pure receives the lowest score for training being of great benefit to people personally (just 57% positive). However, managers regularly appreciate a job well done (84%) and care about job satisfaction (82%). The company had a £100,000 budget for social events last year, and if individuals meet targets they get a £5,000 holiday and extra days off to enjoy it. Employees say Pure puts a lot into its local community (65%), with events such as a contest to run a Children's Society charity shop, volunteering in centres and mentoring young adults.
