Sonocent has been supporting learners with audio note-taking technology since 2007. The Leeds-based company was co-founded by Dr Roger Tucker and CEO Dave Tucker, and its assistive technology enables people – from students to business leaders – to accurately capture information as delivered and revisit it as often as needed.

Considering that education is the bedrock of civilisation, taking good notes is one of the most fundamental of study and life skills. Doing so via audio means these are not subject to variable interpretation and no one falls behind because of, perhaps, not quite hearing something or immediately grasping its significance during live lectures or meetings.

Acessible note-taking also has economic implications in that empowering information can be cascaded to all who need it. And assistive technology is a boon for people with conditions such as dyslexia, ADHD, cognitive impairments, autism and more – offering a way of working suited to all circumstances and skillsets.

New entrant to our list Sonocent has helped hundreds of thousands of students at 600-plus higher education institutions worldwide. Its award-winning Sonocent Audio Notetaker software captures audio, text and slides in a single note-taking workspace.

In 2020, the company launched the Google Chrome browser-based app Glean that combines audio recordings with multimedia notes like never before.

Four values underpin Glean: trust is foundational; growth is a mindset; people and their emotions matter; and the desire to enjoy the journey. The new tool has aready swiftly doubled its customer base and Sococent has ambitious goals of supporting 1m students with their learning.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
