Stonewater, the social housing provider that offers quality homes and services for people whose needs are not met by the open market.
Its mission is to deliver good quality, affordable homes to people who need them most. It manages around 33,600 homes in England for over 75,000 customers, including affordable properties for general rent, shared ownership, and sale, alongside specialist accommodation such as retirement and supported living schemes for older and vulnerable people, domestic abuse refuges, a dedicated LGBTQ+ Safe Space, and young people’s foyers.
The organisation takes equality and diversity seriously. To ensure it champions under-represented staff, employee networking groups have been created for BAME, LGTBQ+, and disabled colleagues, to name a few.
The organisation also has an ‘I am Stonewater’ movement, designed to celebrate the diversity of its colleagues. This initiative was developed to enable people to bring their whole selves to work, without feeling any form of exclusion or discrimination.
This progressive approach is mirrored in Stonewater's house-building programme, which sees it aim to build a minimum of 1,500 new homes a year from 2022/23. To ensure its plans to grow its housing stock remain true to its value of working ethically and passionately, it’s committed to making its homes energy efficient. It is working towards the Government's targets for carbon neutrality and has created its own 'Environment Strategy' to help minimise use of resources.
