Healthcare professionals spend their working lives making sure others are looked after but System C likes to make sure its employees are also cared for. The company designs, builds, implements and supports clinical and administrative computer systems right across the healthcare sector. Employee satisfaction is a priority and a variety of schemes are in place to ensure that people feel appreciated. Formal reward and remuneration methods help (more than half the workforce earns more than £35,000), but the company prides itself on maintaining a delicate touch. For example, gifts or flowers are sent to staff to mark personal occasions. Led by chief executive Ian Denley, employees report high levels of engagement with the company. Their excitement about where it is going earns an 84% positive score and there is much pride in working here (83%). Maternity leave is excellent with at least 26 weeks off, with 20 weeks at full pay. Provision for new dads also betters the national guidelines with two weeks off with full pay.
