Established in 1992 TACT (The Adolescent and Children’s Trust) is a beyond-profit organisation, investing all surplus income back into its services to ensure that carers and children in its care receive the best possible support.
Based across England, Wales and Scotland, staff are dedicated to ensuring that TACT's foster carers receive the support they need, wherever they need it — regardless of where they are in the country.
Charity is well and truly at the heart of TACT. It was involved in the disability, equality and inclusion group of fellow charity, Charities HR Network, last year, to raise awareness of diversity and inclusion. It also ran a company-wide survey to help produce an anti-racism strategy.
Hosting several charitable events, TACT was able to raise £640 for Macmillan Cancer Support through its annual coffee morning and £2,000 to plant 2,000 trees with a team hike to the peak of Pen Y Fan mountain. The organisation then went on to distribute £12,000 worth of equipment to children within foster households to assist the transition to home learning, and £3,000 in emergency funding to those leaving care, for use on rent and bills to help when facing challenging times.
In an effort to go green, staff are now contracted as home-based employees and encouraged to use Teams meetings as much as possible, to avoid using cars to travel to face-to-face meetings. The company also hopes to host a scheme for electric cars via salary sacrifice.
