Talbots Law aims ‘to be the law firm for everyone’.

This can be seen in the range of personal and business clients it serves across the West Midlands and the stake it offers its staff in the company – a law firm first for the region.

The ‘values led’ firm – which has around 380 staff across eight offices – sees employee ownership as a way to ‘capture and protect its independent, innovative and passionate people culture.’

This ethos is reflected in much of its work, from Legal Aid cases to ensure everyone can access quality support to charitable initiatives such as supplying free wills through Cancer Research UK and offering drop-in legal advice at women’s refuges.

Talbots Law prides itself on its people-based recruitment strategy, which, unlike many other firms, considers each candidate’s personal skills, qualities, abilities and potential – as well as their interests and aspirations – to match them to a role and department.

And thanks to personalised career progression, and the freedom to challenge, innovate and take ownership, many employees have progressed from entry-level to lawyer and senior management roles.

The firm has recently launched a six-week training programme helping people with no experience in residential property into conveyancing careers – another first for the region.
