Giving back is an important part of Target's culture, and the pandemic gave staff new ways to help the group's charity partners.

There were opportunities to volunteer with the Re-engage call companions service, which eased isolation for elderly people, and with the Cinnamon Trust, which provides dog-walkers for pet owners who cannot get out. Some employees helped City Hospice to prepare a new shop for opening.

Newport-based Target has more than 1,000 staff. Its fintech platform handles the processing, servicing and administration of loans, investments and insurance for clients such as RBS, Barclays and Santander. Target systems also collect £3 billion of direct debit payments annually on behalf of private and public sector clients, including the DVLA.

To reinforce Target's commitment to corporate social responsibility, senior leaders regularly attended community events and charitable activities, such as local beach cleans and the Alzheimer's Society Memory Walk, before lockdown restricted such activities.

Daily wellbeing and home-working advice was posted on Yammer, covering topics such as body image, work/life balance and Go Sober for October. Parents and carers were offered support through a series of webinars.

Target has two staff recognition schemes. The quarterly TargetWins recognises 16 individuals or teams that have gone over and above. The eight winners each receive £250 and a trophy and their names go up in lights; the eight runners-up get £100 each. MyRecognition is an internal portal that allows colleagues to praise and reward others.

A series of webinars helped managers to adapt how they dealt with staff and clients during the pandemic. One advantage of remote working was that, without the interruptions of a busy office, managers could spend more time speaking to their teams. More than 50 were nominated during the #GreatManager campaign.

A six-week engagement plan, launched during lockdown in response to staff feedback, included the introduction of Yammer, TikTok challenges, fancy dress quizzes and book clubs. MS Teams was also rolled out, allowing the new chief executive to hold a meet-and-greet with everyone in the business.

The Aspire programme is designed to develop the capability of Target's future leaders, ensuring a smooth transition and enhanced performance in their later roles. What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
