There is a family feel at The Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP), the West Midlands-based membership organisation where employees come first.
Founded in 1980, the CIPP is for professionals who process and manage UK payroll and pensions.
It provides support services and education on UK payroll and pension legislation and works with government bodies to influence future legislative change which impacts the profession.
The organisation proudly supports its local area, with several staff being praised for their involvement in the 'Love Solihull' environmental initiative. This saw them convert an outdoor space to make it more inclusive, as well as helping to create a vegetable patch and wildlife area.
Support for the environment doesn't stop there, with the organisation joining forces with 'Climate Action For Associations' (CAFA) programme and rolling out regular updates on waste and recycling and moving from paper-based to digital products.
CIPP wants all its employees to feel empowered to make their voices heard and has launched a group known as 'The Employee Voice' to represent all staff across the business.
This dedicated group of individuals are responsible for voicing the opinions and suggestions of everyone within the organisation, as well as investigating new ideas and generating interest.
The group regularly communicates to the business, thanks to its 'Things you Need to Know this Week' email.
I am happy with the balance between my work and home life
The CIPP has arranged for employees to have free access to Peppy Health, which is a menopause, fertility, early parenthood, and men's health related app. There is also online support by professionals to help with any questions and tips on how to manage menopausal and perimenopausal symptoms.
My manager shares important knowledge and information with me
Once a month, managers are asked to focus on one value and nominate an employee who has shown exemplary work towards that value. A vote of the selected candidates then takes place and the winning employee is congratulated by the senior leadership team and recognised throughout the organisation.
I am happy with the pay and benefits I receive in this job
It is a Living Wage Employer and ensures a company-wide fair pay structure relating to job title and responsibility for that role. It has an annual pay review every September to ensure all employees’ salaries are consistent across all departments, and this year has also taken the cost of living increase into account.
