Utilities broker, Tritility makes the mental and physical welfare of staff a top priority — one of its values is: "We put people first." In December, it was applauded for its submission to the Bronze Better Health at Work Award, which operates in the North East and Cumbria.

Tritility, which is based in Jarrow, helps small to medium-sized companies cut their energy costs – and their carbon footprint.

Since then it has begun working towards a silver accreditation.

The company offers a variety of health and wellbeing services, from free gym membership to Ray's Corner, a mini resource centre in the office's breakout area, where people can find information on a wide range of topics, from alcohol to stress.

It was created in partnership with local mental health charity, Washington Mind.

Last year, the company formed the Tritility equality, diversity, and inclusion forum, an employee-led group that liaises between senior management and staff.

Suggestions, concerns, and ideas can be expressed safely within the group before being presented to the leadership team in the form of actionable feedback.

In December, the company won the Diversity Pioneers title at the Telca awards — the "Energy Oscars" — for its commitment to employee health and equality.

The company also celebrates staff achievement and last year staged its first TriStar awards. The event was a morale booster for staff and gave the company the chance to review its performance and clarify
