ACT Training uses social media to consistently shout about its achievements as a leading employer. Positive stories about the work it does, how it makes a difference to people's lives and the culture and benefits of working for the company are shared.
The aim is to attract new staff to the company, which provides a wide range of training, including apprenticeships and adult employability courses. It recently produced a recruitment video featuring ACT staff discussing what they love about working for the business and the many benefits, opportunities and support they receive. It was also widely shared online.
The initiatives have led to to the company gaining many followers who are waiting for the right role to become available, creating a pipeline of talent for the future.
ACT Training's founder left school at 15 with no qualifications, yet now leads a company with more than 360 staff and income of about £32 million a year. Andrew Cooksley wants to help learners avoid the multiple jobs and false starts he had before founding the Cardiff-based company in 1988.
The company seeks the best possible outcomes for each of its learners, while aiming to be a "brilliant place to work". It knows its success depends on all of its people being happy and having everything they need to work to the best of their ability. ACT holds an Investors in People Platinum accreditation, which is awarded to only the top 2% of companies assessed.
