Age UK has a history spanning eight decades and has always strived to improve the lives of older people, whether that be through influencing and advocacy, or through the services and programmes that Age UK, and it’s network of local, national, and international partners provide in communities both here and abroad.
As well as striving to improve the lives of older people, Age UK also prioritises the wellbeing of its own employees.
The organisation has worked to embed a culture which values mental and physical wellbeing throughout Age UK. This starts from the very beginning of its people's journey with the organisation.
All employees on induction complete a section on mental health. Its ‘Passport to Success’ also includes a section on wellbeing, which has space to share what wellbeing support the employee may require from their line manager.
All Age UK Managers attend expert training from the mental health charity Mind on how to recognise and support their people's mental wellbeing.
In addition to this, the organisation has 50 Mental Health First Aiders who are an active and passionate group, advocating for mental health in their work. They can also opt-in to training courses on specialist subjects such infertility and trauma.
