Association for Project Management is a chartered membership organisation for the project profession. Founded in 1972 with 78 members at the time of its first official meeting, today the organisation has over 37,000 individual members, nearly 500 Corporate Partners, and over 120 employees.
Association for Project Management is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion. Its Caring Community initiative has established community groups for staff with unique needs, such as carers or people affected by the menopause.
Employees are entitled to a wellbeing day every year which they can dedicate to something that improves their mental health, and they are allocated one day each year to spend volunteering for a cause of their choice.
Employees also have the opportunity for continuous personal and professional development through a training programme that ensures that all staff can gain a project management qualification. In addition to this, Association for Project Management provides regular knowledge-share sessions on a range of work related subjects that are delivered for staff, by staff. This gives employees the chance to learn new skills from each other, further developing their careers and forming stronger relationships between departments.
The result of these training programmes, knowledge-share sessions and volunteering days is that employees at Association for Project Management are highly engaged with the organisation. This creates a positive working environment where individuals are supported and their success is recognised and rewarded.
I feel a strong sense of family in my team
Due to hybrid working conditions, employees often miss the interactions that they get in the office. Regularly arranged activities help to bring the team together and build relationships through virtual social events, quizzes, fundraising events (which always involve cake!), face-to-face training, and aways days – including this year’s Lego workshop.
This organisation is run on strong values / principles
Operating in an inclusive culture, the organisation’s DEIB, menopause, and carers community groups are supported by the Leadership Team who ensure that all needs are catered for. The CEO and Leadership Team use an open door policy and participate in coffee mornings so employees can chat informally and share any successes and concerns with them.
This job is good for my own personal growth
The association's Making Room to Grow days, which run twice a year, are popular with staff and provide an opportunity for everyone to come together and learn through interactive team-building activities. Another popular initiative is the Knowledge Share Calendar which offers access to a range of topics through interactive hour-long sessions.
