Founded in 1919 in the south west of England, Bishop Fleming provides accountancy, tax, audit and advisory services to entrepreneurs, SMEs, large businesses, private individuals, schools and not-for-profit organisations.

The firm has recorded positive growth every year for a decade and even expanded its headcount to 400 during the pandemic, with partnerships rising to 34 and a record intake of graduate trainees. Recognising that people are its greatest assest, Bishop Fleming puts wellbeing at the centre of its business strategy with a team of “wellbeing champions” in its offices and mental health first aiders on hand to provide support to colleagues.

An investment in technology will allow employees to combine a flexible blend of in-office and remote working post-pandemic. It realises its staff are also its greatest recruiters. One recent initiative involved new hires from competitor firms using LinkedIn to promote the reasons behind their moves.

There is a fully-funded, supported professional training programme, designed to offer a rewarding career for all. Training has now moved online to MS Teams, which allows sessions to be delivered with greater efficiency and functionality, such as sharing content and working collaboratively on screen.

Apprentices are an integral part of the team. They are encouraged to become Young Apprentice Ambassadors for which they are given time to attend training sessions, network with apprentices in other industries, and carry out promotional activities in schools.
