WHITE WATER RAFTING, paintballing, a Masterchef-style sushi cooking event and a mini-Olympics group fitness challenge — followed by a relaxing spa session — were all on offer at Cadwyn Housing Association's annual employee awayday. Social events at this Cardiff-based body range from barbecues and Christmas parties to band nights and skittle contests, which doubtless helped it achieve a positive score of 80% for colleagues being fun. Workers go out of their way and care for each other (both 77%). The small association, which offers staff perks that include the opportunity to buy and sell annual leave, onsite massages and the free use of pool bikes, scores 61% for giving staff a Fair Deal. Housing officers, who get a basic salary just short of £25,000, are among the four-fifths of the 106-strong workforce who earn between £15,000 and £35,000, and people are satisfied with their remuneration package (65%). They think their pay is commensurate with the responsibilities they have in their job (61%, 25th place). Last year the housing association set up a health and wellbeing group with initiatives ranging from hypnotherapy sessions for staff trying to quit smoking to lunchtime Pilates.
