The Caravan and Motorhome Club was founded in the early 1900's by eleven horse-drawn caravan enthusiasts. Their vision was to create a club owned and run by its members, which would represent the interests of touring caravan owners and support them with a high-quality range of facilities, services and information. Over a century later, the club's ethos remains the same. They have grown over the years to become the world's largest organisation for touring caravan and motorhome owners with a membership of over 350,000 households (representing around one million individuals). The club puts health and wellbeing for its many employees at the top of its agenda. All employees are offered an Employee Assistance Programme which offers mental, physical and financial support. This includes counselling by phone or face to face, debt or domestic matters, work related issues, personal concern, help with childcare and much more. The club has always had an important role to play in the conservation and care of the countryside. New and redeveloped sites are landscaped and planted with native trees and shrubs, so they are carefully screened and make a minimal impact on the surrounding environment. Many sites provide valuable habitats for wildlife, which in turn provide enjoyment and interest for its members. To ensure like minded people are continuing to join the organisation, a referral scheme is in place whereby a payment of £500 is given to the employee after the candidate they refer has been offered and accepted the position and successfully made it through the probation period.
