Founded in 1986, Charles Tyrwhitt, still owned by founder Nicholas Charles Tyrwhitt Wheeler, is a menswear retailer that takes great pride in selling gentleman's clothes that last, made from the finest materials gathered from the UK and around the world.
Starting as a mail-order company, it has now evolved into an online retailer that also has physical stores throughout the UK and in the US and France to sell its ‘quintessentially British' products.
Senior managers are the embodiment of Charles Tyrwhitt's four core values and new recruits are talked through what they are and why they are important during induction.
That encourages all employees to ‘Be the Boss', by taking ownership of their work, ‘Be the Best', through continual personal development and attention to wellbeing, ‘Be the Customer', by thinking like them and ‘Be the Change' by engaging with and taking the initiative within the wider community.
The company takes its environmental responsibilities seriously, with recent initiatives including reducing packaging, particularly plastics, making its sales brochure fully recyclable, incorporating recycled fibres into its range, and encouraging the reuse of its products instead of disposal.
Customers are offered £5 off a new shirt if they return an old shirt for recycling or charitable donation.
