“Our passion is contagious.” Insurance claims handlers Claims Consortium Group UK encourages its employees to love what they do.
More than 300 staff work for the Taunton-based Group, which specialises in property, drainage, subsidence and motor claims. It also offers innovative workflow technologies to insurers, brokers and property services organisations to make the claims process more efficient for everyone.
With 80% of its leadership team starting at entry or lower-level grades, Claims Consortium Group UK is passionate about promoting internally. It’s an accredited centre for ILM qualifications, encouraging its leaders to gain Level 3 and above. It also offers a continuous leadership development programme that delves into the psychology of leading people.
Staff can choose whether to work from home or the office, and the Group is trialling a nine-day fortnight. Employees get an extra day off for their birthday and a ‘summer beach day’ to make the most of any glorious weather. They can also take three charity days a year for work-arranged events, such as the Three Peaks Challenge, or support a cause of their choice.
And to ease the high cost of living, staff can choose daily benefits, whether that’s savings on the weekly food shop or their mobile phones. The Group also offers regular free financial consultations.
The ‘Cornerstone’ system keeps people connected and updated on business developments. And face-to-face meetings are in venues that “inspire and energise”, such as Air BnB properties, allowing colleagues to have evening downtime together after the hard work is done.
I have confidence in the leadership skills of the senior management team
The webinars initiated through the pandemic have continued, and staff have regular opportunities to quiz the senior leadership team. Leaders come together monthly in virtual workshops to feedback from their teams and raise any concerns and queries with the People and Culture team.
This job is good for my own personal growth
Employees are supported to take professional qualifications, including those from the Chartered Insurance Institute, Chartered Institute of Loss Adjustors and the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. And customer service, project management and UX design are just some of the broader work-related certifications employees have taken recently.
This organisation has a strong social conscience
Passionate about the environment, the Group runs sustainability workshops introducing environmental initiatives. Its most recent is working with Carbon Neutral Britain, which calculates the Group’s carbon footprint and offsets this with certified projects in the UK and around the world.
