CARMAN IS A single mother who lives in Honduras and turned to prostitution out of desperation to support her six children. Thanks to Compassion UK, which enrolled two of her sons in one of its programmes, they will be educated and have the chance to change their family's fate. The 101 staff believe this Christian charity, which is based in Weybridge, Surrey, and works with churches in developing countries, makes a tangible different to the world we live in (a 98% positive score), and are proud of its achievements. Many departments at the small not-for-profit sponsor youngsters themselves and take part in various fundraisers. One member of the IT team shaved his head to help pay for a term's schooling for a child. There's a close bond between employees, who get on well (84%). Quarterly recognition events get everyone together. The most recent was Uganda-themed and involved a lively African welcome.
