Creating a collaborative culture where its employees have a true sense of belonging, is underpinned by investment in learning and development, colleague wellbeing and digital tools which enable them to perform and achieve.

In 2021 the company recorded 6,000 hours of training & development activity across the bank, including 82 colleagues participating in Graduate and Apprenticeship programmes, a Leadership Development Programme and an award winning Professional Education programme which encourages and sponsors all colleagues to achieve professional qualifications through the Institute of Banking in Ireland.

Helping people and businesses achieve their ambitions for over 200 years, Danske Bank serves the needs of personal and business customers through branches, business centres, a local customer contact centre and a wide range of digital channels.

In September 2021 the bank’s first ever female CEO took up position and set out her strategic priorities, which include supporting customers, boosting the bank’s digital capabilities, being sustainable and responsible.

Over 500 staff have now been trained on sustainability through the banks e-learning platform, and its partnership with EcoSchools delivers an outdoor learning programme and 11 productive gardens. Danske Bank's Climate Action Programme for Corp & Business Customers in collaboration with BITC, is the first of it’s type in UK & Ireland, and it has launched the UKs first Carbon Neutral Mortgage, developed in collaboration with the Carbon Trust to encourage customers to choose more energy efficient low emissions homes and showcased at COP26.

Placing a focus on the mental wellbeing of its staff, Danske Bank's CEO signed a Healthy Boundaries Charter enabling the bank to develop guidance for all colleagues on working hours, overtime and taking breaks. The company also launched its Better Ways of Working framework that puts emphasis on employees achieving balance and performing their best.

Having re-launched its volunteering programme, Danske Ban have helped over 17 local charities, making a difference on issues like biodiversity, fraud awareness & digital inclusion. In 2021 the organisation partnered with AWARE NI raising over £92,000 for the cause, and through their annual Christmas charity gift donated £12,000 to five local charities chosen by staff.
