East Midlands Chamber aims to encourage businesses in the region to become greener. It has launched a Sustainable East Midlands initiative, along with sustainability forums and it will stage a summit each year. The campaign highlights the opportunities available to businesses, provides examples of organisations already successfully engaged in the low-carbon agenda and showcases the support available to those that want to learn more.
The chamber, which covers Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire, aims to be the top of the league when it comes to helping businesses flourish. It is the leading business organisation in the East Midlands and the second-largest Chamber of Commerce in the country.
The voice for businesses in the region, it was crowned the 2018 British Chambers of Commerce Chamber of the Year. With a growing membership of more than 4,300 businesses from start-up to scale-up, local to global, its services range from lobbying and campaigning to helping businesses realise their international trading ambitions, showcasing and market-making activities and workforce training and development.
The chamber helps its staff to flourish, too, by offering a range of benefits, from professional development opportunities to social events and away-days. After listening to employees, it has introduced wellbeing checks, established an events and social committee to boost camaraderie and a diversity and inclusion network so staff can share experiences and identify improvements they feel need to be made.
