Medical communications company EMJ aims to "create gold medal winners" amongst healthcare professionals and its own team by giving them the tools to learn and develop.
The London-based company produces content to help ambitious healthcare professionals succeed, and it wants to raise global healthcare standards in the process.
It now has more than 70 employees producing 19 independent, open-access e-journals highlighting advancements across various therapeutic areas, including cardiology and pharmaceuticals.
As well as helping medical specialists stay on their 'A game', EMJ is supporting its staff to do the same using its 10 values – including being passionate, proactive and inspiring – as the building blocks for growth.
They get ongoing feedback over and above regular one-to-ones, with department heads working with them to ensure their bespoke development plans are on track. And there's now a Head of People role, with the successful candidate tasked with producing career roadmaps to help employees visualise their EMJ journeys.
EMJ's company-wide Monday morning huddle is a crucial engagement tool – an opportunity to update everyone on the latest business news, reinforce the values and bring them to life through storytelling, and give shout-outs to employees who've gone above and beyond. This includes awarding a weekly Gold Medal Winner.
Weekly newsletters also highlight company and individual success, and staff who consistently demonstrate the values receive annual value awards. And there are plenty more opportunities to celebrate with a Christmas party, summer ball and numerous charity events.
