The publisher of medical journals' mission is to elevate the quality of healthcare globally, by supporting all healthcare professionals with free and easy access to independent education and lifelong learning opportunities. It began in 2012 with the idea of producing material that would be valuable for medical professionals. Since then, EMJ has grown from two journals to 19 and it has more than 60 team members.
It also launched its pharmaceutical magazine, GOLD, featuring insights from industry thought leaders on topics affecting the pharmaceutical industry, along with news and interviews with medics and industry professionals.
Today, the company continues to thrive and grow — 2020 was a record-breaking year for the business when it recorded its highest-ever revenue numbers and launched new digital products, such as webinars and podcasts.
A cornerstone of the EMJ mission is the professional and personal development of all staff. It believes it has a duty of care to each team member to make the working environment as productive and enjoyable as possible.
It does this by producing regular feedback that goes beyond the usual one-to-one sessions. Each department head works closely with their team members in both a formal and informal setting to gauge the progression of their development.
