OPERATING AND MANAGING two of Scotland's leading presenting venues – The Festival Theatre and King's Theatre in Edinburgh as well as a new studio and rehearsal space, the Studio at the Festival Theatre —the Festival City Theatres Trust has big goals and wants to be known both nationally and internationally for its range of arts programmes. Employees clearly have faith in it. They are excited about where the institution is going (a 71% positive score) and care deeply about its success (90%). The King's Theatre opened in 1906. Having emerged unscathed from two world wars, it is still one of the more luxurious theatres in Scotland. Staff feel proud to work for the small trust (83%). Although generally the salaries are not high, for the first time in the trust's history every member of staff shared in the success of last financial year with a bonus of 2% of earnings. Senior management recognised that the record-breaking year was a triumph of dedication and hard work from the whole team and wanted to show its thanks. Roles in this institution range from part-time positions behind the bar, in the box office and front-of-house during performances, to permanent positions in areas such as marketing. Since it is a charity, it is unsurprising that there is a caring undertone to this enterprise.
