Staff at Gearset, one of Cambridge's fastest growing technology start-ups, used their drive to do their bit during the pandemic getting fit to raise money for mental health charity, Mind, and helping to provide face shields to hospitals and care homes. A donation from Gearset also enabled 3D enthusiasts to create 800 more much needed shields.

Founded in 2015, Gearset has rapidly established itself as the market-leading release management solution for the Salesforce platform relied upon by some of the biggest companies in the world. Clients include Johnson & Johnson, Accenture, IBM and TripAdvisor and it is heading stateside, opening an office in Chicago after a year of strong growth.

To welcome the 39 or so new starters who joined the firm since the start of the pandemic, Gearset has encouraged people to get to know each other by setting up virtual tea breaks with people from other departments using an app that organises regular catch-up sessions for random groups of Gearcitizens.

In normal times Gearset provides lunch in the office for the team but in Coronavirus times it now pays for weekly takeaways on Fridays. The company has also replicated other social activities enjoyed before lockdown with video calls including beers on Friday and its monthly Drink & Learn sessions.

Reflecting the culture of openness, transparency and trust, Gearset encourages employees to take ownership of projects and fosters independent thought. It has weekly product roadmap catch-ups specifically designed for employees to champion new ideas.

Quote from the top...
" That 3* rating encapsulates so much across the team. Gearset has doubled the headcount every year over the last four years, and the way we've kept the culture and ethos as we've scaled is by hiring people that care about culture. The team is made up of folks that have the skills and talents that allow them to work anywhere, and the reason they choose Gearset is they can trust their colleague cares just as much as they do about doing a great job and taking pride in their work. Trust and transparency across everything helps us stay on track to build a team and a company that we all love being a part of."

Kevin Boyle, CEO - Gearset
