Good Energy was founded in 1999 by Juliet Davenport with the aim to power a cleaner, greener future. At the time 2% of electricity came from renewables, and Juliet’s idea was to supply customers with 100% renewable power. Good Energy remained the only certified 100% renewable electricity supplier until 2015.
In 2022, Good Energy became a clean technology installer of solar panels, heat pumps and EV chargers, making it a one-stop-shop for everything green. In 2024, Good Energy became a certified B Corp, highlighting its commitment to ensuring the highest standard of social and environmental governance.
The company has a strong focus on development and offers all employees a £500 annual development allowance, in addition to development programmes. These are targeted at those in junior grades to maximise career development options, through building self-awareness, personal skills and commercial awareness.
Every employee participates in its Signature Skills programme, completing modules on straight-talking, performance coaching, and inclusive working (inclusive leadership for leaders). The organisation also offers return to work coaching if an employee has had a length of time away from work such as maternity leave and sick leave.
Every month a company-wide meeting is held to share the latest business updates and progress on targets, objectives and key results, followed by a free lunch, providing time for networking and socialising between colleagues, who may often work remotely. Once a year a party is enjoyed by all employees, offering a chance to connect and catch up with colleagues from across the business.
