Here East, a tech and innovation campus in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, east London, has a "one team" ethos. It says: "We operate as one unit, one machine all heading in the exact same direction. We all know what the overall business objectives are and the role each team member plays to achieve this."
Senior leaders have an open-door policy and seek the thoughts and feelings of staff. When it comes to working practices, they listen and take positive action. The result is a highly engaged and committed team.
Here East's 1.2 million sq ft campus is home to a thriving business and tech community of more than 4,500 academics, technologists and creatives, spanning a diverse range of sectors, from architecture and mobility, to dance and esports.
It was redeveloped from the 2012 Olympics media centre and has been heralded as a standout example of a sustainable Olympic legacy. The campus is designed to ensure that each business and entrepreneur on site is able to use and contribute to the wealth of expertise and creativity offered by fellow tenants and the wider east London community.
Tenants include Ford Smart Mobility, BT Sport, FiiT, Sports Interactive and the upcoming V&A East museum projects. The businesses sit alongside world-class institutions, such as University College London's Bartlett School of Architecture, Loughborough University London, Staffordshire University London and Liverpool Music Academy.
