Commercial law firm Howes Percival LLP works hard "to promote an environment where everyone feels they belong."

With a Northampton HQ and five other offices from Manchester to Norwich, the firm's team of over 300 employees serves individuals and families, global businesses and government departments while looking out for each other.

In "respecting the different contributions individuals can make to the business," the LLP uses a recruitment system that helps it better appreciate applicants' achievements against the obstacles they may have faced, such as coming from an area of low social mobility or succeeding despite significant caring responsibilities.

And everyone at every level has the chance to shine through the quarterly DNA awards. Staff can nominate colleagues who've lived and breathed the values, with the Board choosing the winners. These culminate in the 'DNA Superstars' – an annual 'best of the best' competition where an overall winner from each category receives a special award at the AGM and a personalised 'thank you' from the Chair.

At Howes Percival LLP, there's a flexible working approach with no minimum number of days in the office; instead, staff are encouraged to 'Locate for Your Diary,' with the firm trusting them to work around the needs of teams and clients and agreeing set team days together. These are often based around social activities and theme days such as 'Tea and Toast Tuesdays' and 'Walking Wednesdays'.
