Putting employee wellbeing at the forefront of the business, Hydrock has established a successful hybrid working pattern for its staff, with a desk-booking app available and an encouragement for teams to come together at least once a week for collaborative in-person working.

Construction consultant Hydrock has built its consistent growth on solid foundations of expertise and innovation. Founded in 1995, it specialises in the engineering design, energy efficiency and sustainability of buildings and infrastructure.

Having expanded both organically and through careful acquisitions, it employs more than 500 staff across the UK. It stands by its original values with an emphasis on creating a fun workplace atmosphere in which its people respect each other and step up when challenges arise.

This large business offers a £200 annual healthy-living bonus to staff to support an activity they enjoy; every team takes a day to support a local charity; each office has a wellbeing champion encouraging team activities; and all staff join an annual challenge day at Hydrock's headquarters in Bristol.

Focusing on what it can do to help the environment, Hydrock's Sustainability Working Group aims to reduce the business's carbon footprint, encouraging sustainability within the workplace. Having set out its roadmap to achieving net zero by 2030, the working group introduced initiatives, including switching pool cars to electric vehicles, reducing business mileage by 80% per employee and decarbonising heat and power within Hydrock’s offices, by changing to renewable electricity providers.
