Learning Curve Group's mission to “transform lives through learning” includes the more than 500 people who work there. Staff (known as Purple People) are encouraged in their professional development. Opportunities to upskill include specialist training, a performance appraisal process, work shadowing, management development and the Purple People Apprenticeship Academy.

LCG's pay structure recognises people's contributions to the success of the business. Benefits on offer include pension contributions, healthcare and tech and cycle schemes. Based in Spennymoor, Co Durham, the business is a national training and education specialist, working with further education providers, employers and learners to help them achieve success.

It started in 2004 and has grown organically and by acquisition. Through its training programmes, LCG supports more than 5,000 businesses and 150,000 learners every year.

Its core values are innovation through collaboration, doing the right thing, developing and empowering its staff, continuous improvement and putting learners at the centre of everything it does. During the pandemic last year its training schedule was replaced with topics that colleagues would find more valuable and revolved around managing teams remotely.

The company supported teaching and learning staff to get online as quickly and effectively as possible to ensure its learners stayed on track. Its quality team hosted remote training sessions on how to use Teams, Zoom and SmartRoom to conduct lessons. LCG also implemented a new online induction process for its apprenticeship division.

Featured Workplace Factors

My Company

73% of staff agreed

I love working for this organisation

In response to challenges it faced recruiting contact centre staff, LCG created a work-based sector academy that looks for attitude over skills. It aims to attract people who are interested in a sales career but have no experience. Recruits from the academy have been given full-time jobs.

Wellbeing

66% of staff agreed

I am happy with the balance between my work and home life

The business supported employees' mental and physical wellbeing during the pandemic by providing regular advice and information. It offered a four-day working week with no loss of pay so that those who were balancing home schooling or caring for dependants had some respite from the challenges of home working.

Giving Something Back

73% of staff agreed

This organisation is keen to help people from disadvantaged backgrounds

The CSR committee promotes awareness of environmental issues and sustainable working practices. There is energy-saving lighting with movement sensors at the new purpose-built head office where the firm moved in January 2019. People are using less paper and printing documents less frequently.

Benefits

Women in Senior Management

At least 40% of senior managers are women.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
