Leyland SDM is London's number one decorating & DIY retailer. With 33 stores located across London, and in some of London’s most prominent locations, it has a team of nearly 500 colleagues providing a fantastic and knowledgeable service to both its professional trade and retail customers.

You are never far from a Leyland SDM store when in the capital, in early 2017, Leyland SDM was acquired by the Grafton Group as part of their expansion and investment strategy in the UK, seeing Leyland SDM as a high-quality business with significant growth opportunities.

I am happy with the balance between my work and home life
All colleagues in the business worked 48 hours a week, 6 days a week. This was not promoting a healthy work/life balance. To combat this, Leyland reduced colleagues’ working hours (without affecting pay) so that by 2024, no colleague would be expected to work more than 40 hours per week, 5 days per week.
I am paid fairly for the work I do relative to people in similar positions in similar organisations
Its approach to employee reward is gender-neutral by design, and it operates pay banding for over 80% of Leyland SDM colleagues which ensures equal pay regardless of gender. This has resulted in an increase of 2.4% in the median pay and bonus gap between women and men compared to 2020.
This job is good for my own personal growth
It provides several opportunities for its colleagues to grow and learn including: An eLearning platform that allows colleagues to complete the necessary mandatory training plus new soft skills covering IT, Diversity & Inclusion, Management, and Time Management. Additionally, induction training for all new colleagues that join the business.
