Founded in 1895, The National Trust's cause remains constant: ‘looking after special places forever, for everyone'. The organisation looks after coastlines, forests, woods, fens, beaches, farmland, moorland, islands, archaeological remains, nature reserves, villages, historic houses, gardens, mills and pubs. It protects them and opens them up to the public. The National Trust live and breathe their values: ‘love places, inspire people, think long-term, share our common purpose', and their employees are passionate about promoting these values in each of the locations from which they operate. Every year, over 70,000 staff and volunteers are invited to participate in the organisation's internal satisfaction surveys, and full responsibility for the results is taken on by the executive team. Results are used to determine a plan of action for the next 12 months.
