"We don’t build houses, we build homes" is the motto of Newydd Housing Association, which has 3,000 across south and mid Wales. It is ambitious for its future and plans to build 500 more homes in the next five years.
Newydd, which was established more than 45 years ago, is more than just a landlord. A vital part of its role is to engage with and support tenants to improve their quality of life and create sustainable communities that the association's tenants are proud to live in.
It provides affordable homes for rent and sale that are well designed, in good locations and have economical running costs. The association aims to create communities where the quality of housing and the environment is high and where everyone feels included and safe.
Everything it does must be viable in the future as well as now. To achieve this, it assesses the impact of its actions on communities. It also respects the environment to ensure there are no unintended consequences and no section of the community is disadvantaged.
The association is driven by team working and creating a culture in which people feel valued, supported and can thrive. Newydd's senior management team is open to new ideas and is easy to work for.
Staff say there are excellent terms and conditions on offer, such as flexible working, flexitime, a good pension, training and development opportunities and wellbeing initiatives, such as free fruit, an on-site gym and a health cash plan.
