STAFF CLEARLY SEE eye-to-eye with One Vision Housing, the best not-for-profit organisation to work for in the UK for the second consecutive year. Scooping 66 top scores out of a possible 70 and ranking second on the other four questions, the social housing provider, based in Bootle, Merseyside, could not be matched for levels of staff satisfaction by any other organisation in the competition regardless of size, with 28 points separating it from the nearest rival. One Vision also ranks first among mid-size organisations in all eight of the key categories, from Leadership, Wellbeing, Personal Growth and Giving Something Back to how its 448 workers feel about their colleagues and bosses (My Team and My Manager), the organisation itself (My Company) and their remuneration package (Fair Deal). Staff have a great deal of faith in Roy Williams, the chief executive, scoring 94% positive. They tell us they are proud to work for One Vision (93%). “We recognise that any organisation is only as good as the people it employs and can only achieve through its employees,” says Williams, who inspires his staff (91%). Formed in October 2006 following a stock transfer from Sefton Council, One Vison Housing has invested £300m in its 11,700 homes in the last seven years, started building properties and brought services in-house, creating jobs. Employees say they wouldn't leave tomorrow even if they were offered another role (86%). Almost 60% earn between £15,000 and £25,000 a year. “You feel very valued,” says Ann Owens, the resident involvement manager, who, at 62, is going on a leadership course. Like many, she finds her job good for her personal growth (90%). A quarter of staff have clocked up at least five years' service, and sickness rates are low, at less than 2%. “We reap what we sow,” says Williams.
