"It's all about teamwork and co-ordination here, and when I finish work I enjoy spending time with my colleagues." Employees feel that their team-mates care about each other and go out of their way to help one another, both 79% positive scores, and say that colleagues are fun to work with (82%). Richard Mortimer, vice-president of human resources, says: "All the managers joined the firm as graduate software developers, so they know what new starters like, what they don't like, what works for them, and it's that knowledge that makes the relationship work." This is awarded by management on a special basis when employees have made a particularly noteworthy contribution, above and beyond the call of duty. This programme provides managers with a valuable tool to motivate, reward and recognise those employees who distinguish themselves through extra efforts. Significant short-term contributions earns a bonus of £200. A Significant medium/longer-term contribution earns the employee £300-500. A special recognition award to sustained leadership performance over a considerable timeframe, and/or the accomplishment of mission critical, company-wide projects of a major scale is awarded with £1000.
