Security is Oprema's area of expertise. It distributes CCTV, fire alarms, door entry systems and more to the trade. Although its staff were faced with working from home and the uncertainties of the furlough process last year, the Cardiff-based small firm saw business grow during the pandemic.
There was a 10.2% increase in headcount in the 12 months to February 2021. The company was founded in 2010 by Matt Epps (MD and founder) and Tim Duggan (technical director). Achieving a grand total of £16.4 million turnover in 2018, it was named Wales Fast Growth 50 company 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019. In 2020, in spite of the effects of the pandemic, the company finished the financial year with a turnover of £23.7 million.
Accredited by Investors in People and a Real Living Wage employer, Oprema values its staff as one of the three key ingredients for its success. The others are passion and products. It offers a range of benefits to its employees including private healthcare, financial health checks, investment in learning and development and a cycle-to-work scheme.
There is also a monthly free lunch, biannual team-building and fundraising events, a quarterly massage and a fun but fair working environment. The management team regularly gathers feedback from the staff group via micro-surveys, checking in to ensure they are meeting expectations and looking to improve.
Oprema recently linked up with the Reward Gateway platform, through which employees will be able to access a range of discounts and enhanced company communication.
