The Police Mutual Assurance Society offer financial services, wellbeing and healthcare products and services to serving and retired members of the UK police, military and voluntary workers and their families. The Lichfield organisation, set up in 1866, is owned by members, not shareholders. So they can focus on making members' lives easier, happier and longer. Today, Chief Executive Officer Stephen Mann and Chair Julie Spence head up an organisation of hundreds offering a great range of products and services exclusively for its members that it continually redevelops. Around 200,000 members trust the society with their finances and more. That could be a savings or investment product with a built-in guarantee, value-for-money insurance or high-quality healthcare. The society is charity-focused: ‘150 Acts of Kindness' celebrated the 150-year anniversary. Staff were asked to do an act of kindness to help someone else. Examples include litter-picking in the park, donating to food banks or helping neighbours in need.
