From flying around a race track as a new starter to training to become a leader, Porsche Retail Group "wants to go further than motor retailing." It gives its team "the platform to be the best they can be."
The South East-based Group sells new and used sports cars, parts and merchandise. It also offers a maintenance service. It represents five Porsche centres, including its flagship sales centre in Mayfair, as well as a trades parts business and central operations.
By centre and employee, It's the most profitable dealer group in the UK. It puts its success down to how it supports and develops its team of around 300 employees.
The team building starts from induction. It includes driver competency tests, the history of the business, its structure and culture and a manufacturer-led course introducing new employees to Porsche. There's even the opportunity to take one for a spin at Silverstone!
Once employees settle into the business, there are many opportunities to progress their careers. These include leadership-based apprenticeships that lead to a nationally-recognised qualification.
The Level 3 course – equivalent to two A Levels – is designed to help line managers develop core skills in areas like goal setting and performance management.
The Level 5 course – equivalent to the second year of an undergraduate degree – is designed to lift employees out of day-to-day management and get them to look strategically at organisational priorities.
