Ubiqutek's innovative RootWave technology gets tough on weeds while going easy on the environment. Though still small in size, with 28 employees, the company is having a big impact on growers, gardeners and groundskeepers eager to reduce the use of chemical weedkillers.

RootWave's “electricide” technology, which boils weeds inside out from the root upwards, also helps to restore ecosystems and soils.

The Warwickshire-based business has continued to grow despite the pandemic, and will use the venture funding it recently secured to expand its team further.

A “Life at RootWave” page has been created on LinkedIn to give potential recruits an idea of what it is like to work for the company. Opportunities for personal growth will increase. One senior engineer was recently promoted to a manager.

In line with this expansion, Ubiqutek has recruited a head of people. Also, Officevibe has been introduced to help managers obtain real-time feedback from staff and have a benchmark to work with.

The workplace is challenging and energetic, with a team who have the motivation and tenacity to help solve some of the sustainability issues facing society. The company will work with staff to decide how to support its local community and charities.

Quote from the top...
“We are thrilled to be awarded the One to Watch status in our first Best Companies survey. We are on an exciting journey scaling up the business and it is really important that we do this in a collaborative way. Our engagement initiative will be lived and breathed throughout the organisation to really embed it into our culture. I believe that true engagement comes from the involvement of everyone that works for the organisation, we have an incredibly talented workforce, that are passionate about what we do and what we deliver. Our People agenda will be driven from our results, so we can really continue to make it the best place to work.”

Laura Wrench, Head of People - RootWave
