Sandicliffe
A free "Proud" water bottle is given to staff at motor dealership Sandicliffe. It reminds them of the company motto "We are Proud", which was introduced last year. The motto signifies that the company takes pride in what it does and is proud of its staff.
Sandicliffe was set up in 1948 and began as a small garage in Stapleford, Nottinghamshire. The family-owned business has grown to five Ford dealerships and two parts-plus sites. The family are active in the business, ensuring it maintains a family feel and everyone works together for success.
The "We are Proud" motto encompasses the company's family values of "passion", "integrity", "customer care", "team work", "respect" and "empowerment". Sandicliffe believes that if staff are living the values, they are proud of themselves, each other and where they work.
Managers discussed what the values meant to them and how they could lead by example. They each chose a way to keep the values alive, such as incorporating them into one-to-one sessions and team meetings. They met staff to relay their decisions.
The company newsletter reported on it, too and, at a "We are Proud" day, staff were given a free lunch and thanked for their work. They were asked to say why they were proud to work for Sandicliffe and their comments have been published on the company's website. "I get up in the morning and want to go to work," said one.
