Scottish Ballet nurtures the talent of tomorrow; supporting dancers, choreographers and a wide range of artists. Their goal is 'to inspire excellence and creativity in everyone and bring dance to people we haven't reached before.' Based in Glasgow, the company is a touring company regularly performing all over Scotland; from their biggest cities to the most remote communities, throughout the UK and internationally; promoting Scotland's pioneering spirit and sense of humour far and wide. Scottish Ballet take their art to the communities they visit; building stages in sports halls in the Highlands and Islands; working with care homes and schools or working with children excluded from mainstream school or even delivering dance health classes for people with parkinsons or dementia. Scottish Ballet's history is full of firsts: setting the standard in dance audio-description for the visually impaired, actively supporting the careers of female choreographers, creating the first 'Piano for Dance' course as well as their recently launched 5 new works in 5 years and make a wish campaign for their 50th anniversary, where they granted five wishes to the public. The support for their dancers continues long after they hang up their pointe shoes, wherever they see their future career, Scottish Ballet will support their professional transition. That's why Scottish Ballet are diligent about ensuring every dancer has a B plan, ensuring they have access to grants, education, training, mentorships, coaching and support.
